I’ve just completed my 43rd tax season and each season I have thoroughly enjoyed my client relationships as we’ve navigated the ever-changing and complex world of taxation and finance.
This year, 2020, was not like any other year for most of us and as the year went forward I became reflective. It became clear that I needed to think about and act upon a succession plan for my practice. I never really thought much about retirement, but I began to realize that the time had come. I am not going to completely retire but I will begin to scale back. I am starting a transition process that involves me phasing out of active conduct as a practicing CPA and moving into a more consultative role. Experience has taught me this works well for both clients and the practitioner.
I’m excited to announce that Susan Fenwick, CPA has agreed to begin the process of taking over my practice. Susan will continue to operate from our offices at 400 Millstone Drive in Hillsborough. I will continue to work with her, orienting her to my client base and their unique needs. Our assistant, Didi, will also remain with us.
I became acquainted with Susan professionally through a nonprofit organization for which she was the treasurer and I the pro bono accountant. Through the work we do for this organization, we have gotten familiar with each other’s work habits and have been able to assess each other’s work ethic, professional skill, and conduct. We work well together, and I look forward to expanding upon this experience as we transition.
With warm regards,
David McIntee, CPA
